In Iran, protests against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei have spread to most parts of the country in the last two weeks. Initially, these protests were against the economic crisis and inflation in the country, but soon their stance became completely political and the protesters started demanding the religious rulers to step down from power. Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran’s last Shah, has called on protesters to be ready to capture major centers of Iranian cities.

- Iran’s Attorney General Mohammad Movahedi Azad warned protesters that those taking part in the protests would be considered ‘enemies of Allah’, punishable by death under Iranian law. A statement broadcast by Iranian state television said those who ‘helped the rioters’ would also face charges.

- Iran’s military said on Saturday (January 10, 2026) that it will protect strategic infrastructure and public property and urged people to foil the conspiracies of enemies.
