A big global movement has started in protest against the policies of US President Donald Trump. This campaign has been named ‘No Kings’, which means, we do not believe in any king. This movement has spread from America to Europe and Asia.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the US Embassy in London on Saturday (18 October 2025) against the policies of the Trump administration. The protesters said that they are standing in protest against the President’s increasing dictatorial behavior and the threat to democratic institutions.
Protest started from London, impact spread to the world
This rally in London is being considered as the first phase of the No Kings campaign. With this, more than 2,600 demonstrations have been organized across the world. Even in Spanish cities like Madrid and Barcelona, people took to the streets and protested. In America, thousands of people in New York, Washington and Chicago expressed their displeasure over the policies of the Trump administration.
People said – ‘Democracy is not anyone’s personal empire’
Leah Greenberg, co-founder of Indivisible, an organization associated with the campaign, said that this demonstration is to protect democracy. He said that the idea that we do not have kings is the soul of the American Constitution. This movement gives the message that citizens will have to raise their voice again.
Increased commotion and security in America
Protestors marched peacefully in many parts of America. Hundreds of people in Virginia headed towards Washington DC and gathered near Arlington Cemetery. Organizers said that this campaign has received the support of more than 300 social organizations. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has also trained thousands of volunteers to ensure that the protests remain peaceful.
Leaders and celebrities gave support
America’s progressive leaders Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Hillary Clinton also supported the campaign. Many celebrities gave a message of unity on social media with the No Kings hashtag. A few months ago, similar protests took place on Trump’s birthday, in which lakhs of people participated.
Trump said – ‘I am not a king’
Trump responded to the protests by saying it was wrong to call him a king. He also said that these demonstrations are politically motivated and harm the image of the country. Republican Party leaders also criticized these protests, calling them anti-America campaigns.
People’s voice got a platform again
American sociologist Dana Fisher believes that the No Kings campaign could prove to be the largest mass movement in recent years. He says that this is not just a protest against Trump’s policies, but it is the voice of those who are feeling suppressed. According to Fischer, more than three million people can join this movement, which shows that the public will no longer remain silent.
