There is good news for the youth preparing for government jobs. Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has announced recruitment for the posts of Senior Assistant. Through this recruitment, such candidates will get an opportunity who have completed graduation and dream of working in a government office.
The board has started the online application process for this recruitment. Interested candidates can apply from 7 March 2026 to 28 March 2026. Applications will be accepted only through online mode and for this the candidates will have to visit the official website of Punjab SSSB and fill the form.
Who can apply
The candidate applying for this recruitment must have a graduation degree from a recognized university. Along with this, the candidate should also have computer knowledge. For this there should be a computer course of at least 120 hours. Apart from this, candidates who have ‘O’ level certificate of NIELIT (earlier DOEACC) can also apply.

what is the age limit
For this recruitment, the maximum age of general category candidates has been kept at 37 years. Whereas SC, ST and BC category candidates of Punjab have been given age relaxation and the maximum age limit for them has been fixed at 42 years. Apart from this, for the candidates who are already working in the state or central government, the maximum age limit has been kept up to 45 years.
How much application fee will have to be paid
To apply for recruitment, different fees have been fixed for different categories. The application fee for Ex-Serviceman, EWS, Divyang and LDESM categories (Punjab candidates only) is Rs 500. The fee for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Class (BC) candidates of Punjab has been kept at Rs 750. Whereas candidates of all other categories will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1500.
How will the selection process happen?
First of all the candidates will have to give written examination. This exam will be based on multiple choice questions. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in this examination. The thing to note is that negative marking will also be applicable in the examination. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates successful in the written examination will then have to give a computer based typing test. In this test, typing will have to be done in both English and Punjabi languages. This exam will be only to check eligibility. Finally the candidates included in the merit list will be called for document verification. During this time all the certificates of the candidates will be checked.
How much salary will you get?
The candidates selected under this recruitment will be appointed to the post of Senior Assistant. The salary for this post will be given under Level-6 pay scale. The starting basic salary will be around Rs 35,400 per month.
