‘…PSUs are created only to be ruined’, why did PM Modi say this in Rajya Sabha while mentioning LIC, SBI, HAL?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the Rajya Sabha that a mentality had developed regarding government companies (PSUs) that they are meant to be ruined. We corrected these also. Targeting the Congress, the PM said that these people used to mislead people like ‘urban Naxals’, but we carried out reforms in the PSUs, which were brought to the verge of being locked by the Congress leaders. Today the same PSUs are earning record profits. Today our PSUs are getting huge orders from within and outside the country.

Regarding the banking sector, PM Modi said, ‘Before 2014, phone banking was such that a leader’s phone call would go through and he would get crores of rupees. Congress kept receiving billions of rupees on one phone and the poor kept staring at the bank. The banking system was on the verge of destruction under his rule. The challenge before us was big, we acted with courage and carried out many banking reforms. Government banks were merged with big banks, due to which the banks were freed from the disease that had spread to them and now the banks are running at a fast pace.

He considers the post of PM as a personal inheritance: Modi

Targeting the Congress and the Gandhi family, PM Modi said, ‘They have already made up their mind that they do not have to learn anything about democracy from the Constitution. He feels that the post of Prime Minister is his family’s personal inheritance and no one else has the right to sit on that chair. The hatred that exists within them, the fire that keeps burning in their so-called shop of love, is the result of this thinking. That is why, when someone else sat on the place which they believed was their ancestral right, people started marching raising slogans of digging Modi’s grave.

What did PM Modi say about railway crossing?

Before 2014, they used to talk a lot about implementation. In our country, hundreds of people used to die at railway crossings. School buses passed through the railway crossing and there were reports of 20-25 school children losing their lives. These were unmanned railway crossings. It was not such a big task that it could not be done. Still, I had to do this work also.
