Pune Porsche Case: Big decision of Supreme Court, accused’s father Vishal Aggarwal granted bail after 22 months

In the Pune Porsche Case 2024 accident, the Supreme Court on Tuesday (March 10) granted bail to Vishal Aggarwal, father of the minor accused. Two people died in this accident. The court said that it has been alleged that he had taken the blame for his son’s murder upon himself to save his son, but on this basis alone the liberty of a person cannot be restricted for a long time.

The bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuiyan said during the hearing that Vishal Aggarwal has been in custody for the last 22 months. The court granted him bail with a condition that he will cooperate fully in the investigation during the trial and will neither influence any witness nor tamper with the evidence.

The court decided to grant bail to Aggarwal on the conditions set by the trial court.

The Supreme Court said during the hearing that in similar cases earlier too the court had given relief to other accused. Senior lawyers Mukul Rohatgi and Siddharth Dave, appearing for Vishal Aggarwal, told the court that other accused in this case have already got bail. In such a situation, it is not justice to punish a person before he is proven guilty.

In the case, the court decided to grant bail to Aggarwal on the conditions set by the trial court. The court made it clear that the accused will not try to contact any witness in any way and will cooperate fully in the proceedings of the case. The court also ordered the trial to be completed as soon as possible and said that if the bail conditions are violated, the Maharashtra government can apply for cancellation of the bail.

The state government and the victim’s family are protesting against this decision of the court.

However, the state government and the victim’s family have opposed the bail. Senior advocate Gopal Shankaranarayanan, appearing for the victim’s side, said in the court that Aggarwal resorted to unfair means to influence the investigation. While representing the Maharashtra government, another lawyer Siddharth Dharmadhikari claimed that money was given to get the blood samples changed.

Accused Vishal Aggarwal was arrested in the case on June 1, 2024. In which he was accused that while returning from a party late at night, his 17-year-old son had allegedly hit two bike riders while driving under the influence of alcohol, due to which he died on the spot. During the hearing, Agarwal’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi also said that a driver was present with the car at that time, but sometimes children start driving themselves. He claimed that Aggarwal was not aware that his son had asked the driver to drive the car.
