A major railway accident has taken place near Madhopur railway station in Punjab. Where three wagons, including the engine of a goods train derailed due to landslide. It is a matter of honor that no injuries have been reported in this accident.

The incident took place in the morning when a freight train was passing on the Pathankot-Jammu railway block. Meanwhile, the debris suddenly fell down from the hill area at some distance from the station and came on the railway tracks. The speed of the train was not high, but due to the high amount of debris, the engine and three wagons derailed.

Efforts continue to repair the track

Railway officials immediately reached the spot and took stock of the situation and started relief work. Railways have informed that efforts are being made to fix the track as soon as possible so that traffic on this route can be normal. Debris is being removed at the accident site with the help of crane and other equipment and the work of repairing the tracks is going on.

Railway employee safe

According to the railway, no railway employee has been hurt in this accident and all are safe. The movement of trains on the affected section has been stopped at the moment. Some trains passing through this route have been diverted. Passengers do not face any problem with this, so the work of removing debris is going on fast.

The team of Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) has also reached the spot and investigation has been started why the possibility of falling debris was not already expressed and whether the area was being monitored on time.

Landslides occur during monsoon

The region is considered to be hilly and sensitive, where landslides often occur during the monsoon. Earlier, instructions were given by the Railways to take precautions on this route, but this time the intensity of the landslide was so high that there was no time to vacate the track.

Currently, the priority of the railway is to restart the track and normalize passenger services. The local administration is also cooperating in relief work.
