The news of a major administrative reshuffle in the state has been revealed by the Punjab government. Under this, 22 IAS and 8 PCS officers have been transferred with immediate effect on Wednesday (August 20).
In this reshuffle, deputy commissioners of three districts have also been replaced, including Mansa, Sangrur and Bathinda. It is believed that this change has been made with the aim of ensuring the speed and transparency in administrative functioning.
Names of some major changes
After this reshuffle, Navjot Kaur will be the new deputy commissioner of Mansa and Rahul Chaba has been made the deputy commissioner of Sangrur. At the same time, Rajesh Dhiman has been entrusted with the responsibility in Bathinda, while Mohammad Tayyab has been made the Secretary, Jail Department.
Gurpreet Singh Khaira will be the secretary of the Department of Justice, Parneet Shergill has been appointed as the State Transport Commissioner and Jaspreet Singh has been sent to the Special Secretary, Food Processing Department.
Some more important appointments
In this reshuffle, many other senior officials have also been given new responsibilities. According to PTI, Kulwant Singh has been appointed as Director, Local Government, while Shaukat Ahmed Parre has been given the charge of Special Secretary, Finance and Executive Officer, Punjab Waqf Board.
Similarly, Gautam Jain was made Additional Secretary, Personnel and Gulpreet Singh Aulakh has got the responsibility of Special Secretary, Revenue and Rehabilitation Department. Ayush Goyal was appointed SDM, Tappa, while Bikramjit Singh Shergill has been made the commissioner of Amritsar Municipal Corporation.
PCS officers transferred
Along with IAS officers, 8 PCS officers have also been transferred. These include names like Isha Single, Simarpreet, Gitika Singh, Jeevan Jot Kaur and Shivraj Singh Bal. These officers have been given new responsibilities in various districts and departments so that better coordination can be established in the administrative structure.
