The murder case of AAP Sarpanch Harbarinder Singh in Punjab has raised a big question on the law and order of the state. In view of this serious incident, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself has reviewed the matter. The government has made it clear that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances.

DGP gave strict instructions

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday (February 18) directed Firozpur Range DIG Snehdeep Sharma and Tarn Taran SSP Surendra Lamba to personally monitor the investigation. He said that the accused should be arrested as soon as possible and brought to justice.

Besides, DSP Patti Jagbir Singh and Sarhali police station in-charge Gurvinder Singh have been suspended on charges of negligence.

According to the information, Harpinder Singh was shot when he was present at a marriage ceremony at Sidhu Farm in Sarhali police station area. Two unknown assailants suddenly opened fire. He was being taken to the hospital in injured condition, but he died on the way.

Another person present at the spot tried to chase the attackers, but during this he was shot in the leg. At present he is undergoing treatment.

According to SSP Surendra Lamba, no case of threat or extortion has come to light in the investigation so far. Initial investigation suggests that this matter may be related to personal enmity or revenge.

Police have formed 4 teams for investigation which are examining CCTV footage. FSL team is also collecting evidence on the spot. Police say that in-depth investigation is being done through scientific and technical methods and the culprits will be given strict punishment.
