Punjab Budget 2025: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presented a budget of Rs 2.36 lakh crore for the state on Wednesday (March 26). It has focused on the problem of drug and focus on the health sector. During her budget speech, Cheema talked about the Aam Aadmi Party -led Punjab government’s anti -drug campaign to prevent the problem of drug addiction.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that for the first time in Punjab, the Punjab government is going to calculate drug addiction to understand the prevalence of intoxication, the use of drug addiction centers etc. He said that in the last three years, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s visionary leadership has been a major contributor to the visionary leadership power of Punjab in the last three years.
500 home guards will be deployed
Cheema proposed a budget expenditure of Rs 2,36,080 crore for FY 2025-26. He said that the state government will deploy 5,000 home guards along with the Border Security Force (BSF) on the border and set up a second defense line.
Health insurance to 65 lakh families
Punjab Finance Minister Cheema said that for the first time in the history of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann Sarkar has decided to universal state health insurance scheme in the upcoming financial year and cover all 65 lakh families in the state. He said that there will be no restriction or discrimination in this scheme and everyone will be able to take advantage of it.
