Punjab News: A farmer in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab has won a prize of Rs 1 crore from a lottery ticket of Rs 7. Farmer Balkar Singh had bought the Sikkim State Lottery ticket from Bittu Lottery Stall in Sirhind on December 24. The result of the lottery was declared on the same day, but information about this big prize could not be revealed for several days.
Balkar Singh has been buying lottery tickets from this stall for the last 10 years. He has received small rewards in the past as well, which once included a reward of Rs 90 thousand. Balkar, resident of Majri Sodhian village, supports his family through farming.
Received a reward of Rs 1 crore for the first time
Lottery stall owner Mukesh Kumar Bittu said that he has been in the lottery business for 45 years. Prizes up to Rs 10 lakh have been given away from his stall before, but this is the first time a prize of Rs 1 crore has been given.
Farmer won lottery on 24th December
The owner told that the lottery was won on 24th December and the result also came on the same day. However, during the Shaheedi Sabha of Fatehgarh Sahib, he was busy in langar service for three consecutive days, due to which his business remained closed and he could not get the information. Mukesh Kumar Bittu told that after getting the information, he immediately informed Balkar Singh that there was a reward of Rs 1 crore on his ticket.
Will help the needy with lottery money
Balkar Singh attributed his victory to the blessings of Guru Saheb. He said that he will use this money to further his farming work. Along with this, he also talked about spending about 10 percent of the reward amount to help the needy.
3 draws take place in a day
It is important to mention that Sikkim State Lottery is held daily. According to lottery businessman Mukesh Kumar, under this lottery draws are held three times a day. First draw at 1 pm. Second draw at 6 pm. The third draw takes place at 8 pm. The price of one ticket of this lottery is Rs 7. Many people also buy the entire lottery book, which costs around Rs 140.
