The parents of foreign-based gangster Goldie Brar were arrested on January 26 in an extortion case of 2024 in Muktsar Sahib district of Punjab. This action has been taken on the basis of FIR registered on the complaint of a resident of Muktsar. According to the police, serious sections related to extortion and intimidation have been imposed on the accused.
Muktsar Senior Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Rana said that Goldie Brar’s father Shamsher Singh and mother Preetpal Kaur have been arrested under FIR number 233, dated 3 December 2024. Both are residents of Aadesh Nagar, Street No. 1, Sector No. 1, Kotkapura Road, Muktsar Sahib. In this case, a case has been registered under sections 308(4), 351(1) and 351(3) of the Indian Judicial Code. According to the police, the original residence of the family is in Faridkot district and they have a house in Muktsar.
This is the whole matter
Actually, the complainant Satnam Singh is a resident of village Udekaran and has been working in the education department for the last 33 years. Presently she is posted as SLA in Government Girls Senior Secondary Samrat School, Bathinda Road, Muktsar Sahib. Satnam Singh told the police that on November 27, 2024, between 10:30 and 11:00 am, while on duty, he received a call from a foreign WhatsApp number. The caller, claiming to be a member of Bambiha Group, confirmed his identity and demanded extortion of Rs 50 lakh. The accused threatened to kill him if he did not pay the amount and claimed to have complete information about his family and the house located on Kotkapura Road.
Investigation and police claim
According to the victim, he received similar threatening calls three more times on the same day, due to which he got scared and did not receive the call on December 3, 2024. Later, after discussing with family members, he reached Sadar police station with brother Gursevak Singh. According to PTI, as soon as the case was registered on the complaint, the investigation started and Goldie Brar’s parents were arrested.
The SSP confirmed that the two were caught from Amritsar and were staying in a hotel near Darbar Sahib, who will be produced in the court. Police say that at that time Bambiha gang and Goldie Brar were working together, the parents did not have any major source of income and they were dependent on the ransom money. The police is now also thoroughly investigating the role of other people involved in the conspiracy.
