A very surprising case has come to light from Gurdaspur, Punjab. On the morning of 22 February, two policemen were found dead in the Adiya area of ​​the district and there were bullet marks on their bodies. The police officer said that both the soldiers were deployed at the checkpoint while on duty and investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The deceased have been identified as Gurnam Singh and Ashok Kumar. Banarasi Das, officer in-charge of Dorangala police station, said that Ashok Kumar was a home guard personnel, while Gurnam Singh was posted as assistant sub-inspector. Both were deployed as part of security arrangements in the area.

On the morning of Sunday 22 February, the police received information that two soldiers deployed at the checkpoint were found injured due to bullet injuries. Later both were declared dead. As soon as information about the incident was received, SSP Aditya reached the spot and took stock of the situation. It is being told that both the soldiers were deployed on duty. At present, the bodies have been taken into custody and sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem and the forensic and technical team has also inspected the spot.

Some reports have claimed that after some dispute both of them shot each other. However, police station in-charge Banarasi Das clearly said that the investigation is still going on and no conclusion has been reached. Police are thoroughly investigating all possible angles.

SSP Aditya has issued a statement in this regard. According to IANS, he told that he had received information about the firing incident in the morning. He said that cordon and technical and forensic teams have visited the spot. One injured belonged to the India Reserve Battalion and the other to the PSD. The matter is being investigated carefully.
