A farmer in Mehina village of Moga district of Punjab presented a unique example of mutual brotherhood. The Sikh farmer donated his land to reach the graveyard of the Muslim families of the village. Some Muslim families have been living in the village since before 1947. His graveyard is situated amidst fields, but there was no permanent road to reach there. Whenever someone died, people had to pass over the standing crops of the farmers to bury the deceased. A few days ago, after the death of an elderly Muslim woman, her funeral procession had to be taken through wheat fields to the graveyard, the video of which was widely discussed on social media.
Panchayat donated land for the road
After this incident, the village panchayat considered providing a permanent path for the cemetery. Agreeing with the decision of the Panchayat, Jagdish Singh, a Sikh farmer of the village, decided to donate his land to reach the cemetery.
Even before this, land for a mosque was donated by a Sikh family in the same village. With this step, this farmer of Moga has once again set an example of communal harmony and mutual brotherhood.

Farmer Jagdish Singh told that some Muslim families have been living in the village since before 1947 and we all live together like a family. A few days ago an elderly mother had passed away. To take his funeral procession to the cemetery, it had to pass through my fields.
He told that the cemetery is very old, but there is no concrete road to reach there and no one had even demanded it earlier. Now that the Panchayat has thought of giving way, we have come forward to give the land.
He said that we are ready to give whatever land is required for the road, because we all live like a family in the same village. It is our duty to support each other and maintain mutual brotherhood.

He said that as soon as this matter came to his notice, the first thought was to give way. For this, talks were held with farmer Jagdish Singh, who agreed to give the land at once.
The Sarpanch said that for this, talks have also been held with the Patwari and the land will be confirmed in writing and the road will be prepared and given officially. He also said that this is an example of mutual brotherhood, because all the people have been living together for a long time.
