This time the contest is going to be very interesting in the by -election to be held in Tarn Taran assembly seat. The Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) and several Panthik organizations announced on Tuesday (October 7) that they would support Mandeep Singh, the elder brother of Sandeep Singh alias Sunny, accused of killing Shiv Sena (Mint) leader Sudhir Suri. Mandeep Singh will now officially contest as the candidate of Khalsa Panth.

Tarsem Singh, father of Amritpal Singh, said, “We declare Mandeep Singh as the candidate of the entire Khalsa Panth, respecting the sentiments of the community. We will support him in the by -election.”
Family associated with Sudhir Suri murder case
Mandeep Singh’s younger brother Sandeep Singh alias Sunny is currently in jail. He is accused of killing Shiv Sena (Mint) leader Sudhir Suri in 2022. Not only this, last month, Sandeep was also accused of attacking three former police officers and the convicts of fake encounter case in Patiala Jail. Suba Singh, a former police officer injured in the same incident, died on 17 September.
By -election dates fixed
The Election Commission announced on Monday (October 6) that Tarn Taran seat will be voted on November 11 and counting on November 14. This seat was vacant after the death of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal.
Amritpal Singh, the head of Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) and MP from Khadur Sahib, is currently in jail, but his organization is still active in Punjab politics. His father Tarsem Singh is leading this entire political strategy.
‘Brother also said fight elections’- Mandeep
Mandeep Singh said that many Panthik organizations wanted a member of his family to stand in the by -election. Mandeep said, “When I talked to my brother Sunny about this, he also said that I should contest elections.”
