Putin in India after 4 years, PM Modi broke protocol and received himself; left in the same car


Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself received Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in India after four years, breaking protocol. Both the leaders shook hands and hugged. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh and Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar were also present at the airport along with PM Modi. PM Modi and Putin left for 7LKM sitting in a car. Modi sat on the left side of the Fortuner car and Putin sat on the right side. During this, Guard of Honor was also given to President Putin.

This is Putin’s first visit to India since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war. To receive him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the airport with his convoy. The Prime Minister will also host a private dinner in his honor today.

Putin will stay in India for the next thirty hours. Even before his arrival in India, many Russian ministers have reached Delhi. These also include Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Agriculture Minister Dmitry Petrov.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier reached the airport to receive 6 leaders. These include US President Barack Obama, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Japan’s Shinzo Abe, US President Donald Trump, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani.

‘Russia is interested in trade’

Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said that Russia is interested in increasing trade exchanges. We are interested in increasing the supply of Indian products to the Russian market and balancing trade. We are very interested in buying Indian products.

What did Defense Minister Rajnath Singh say?

Before Putin’s arrival, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement also came. He said that it is a good thing that despite geopolitical uncertainty, our India-Russia defense cooperation is progressing at a good pace. Result-based interactions between our armed forces personnel and experts have maintained the momentum of our defense partnership.
