In many parts of Pakistan and POK, 32 people died and many are said to be missing due to heavy rains during the last 24 hours. Rescue officials said that due to torrential rains on Thursday (14 August 2025), at least 16 people were killed and eight others were injured in sudden floods and landslides in several districts including Lower Dir, Bajaur and Abbottabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Panjkora river water level rises due to rain
Five people were killed and four others, including women and children, were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Sori Pao, the plains of Lower Dir. Rescuers evacuated seven people from the rubble, five of whom were declared dead. Officials said that the water level of Panjkora river has increased dangerously due to continuous rains.
A sudden flood and landslides in Jabri and Salarzai areas in Bajaur district caused widespread devastation. According to local sources, nine bodies and four injured people have been recovered so far, while at least 17 others are said to be missing.
Fierce floods due to cloudburst
There was a severe flood due to cloudburst in Jabari village, injuring many people. Rescuers immediately reached the spot, recovered five bodies and rushed the injured to the local hospital after first aid. Amjad Khan, the district emergency officer of Bajaur, is monitoring the rescue operations. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali has confirmed that nine people have been killed and two seriously injured persons have been transferred to Khar Hospital in the incident of Salarzai.
