Raja raghuwanshi murder case: Sonam confessed her crime on Wednesday (June 11, 2025), acknowledging her role in the death of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi. When the Meghalaya Police interrogated her lover Raj Kushwaha and confessed to him, he confessed his crime. The king was murdered within 9 hours with complete planning.
When did the king meet the killer
Sonam and Raja checked out from Shipra Home Stay at around 5:30 am on 23 May 2025. After half an hour, both went out on a trip to Cherrapunji. Sonam’s three companions, who were staying in a nearby homestay, also checked out at the same time. Around 10 o’clock in the morning, when both of them completed 2000 steps, they met Anant, Akash and Vishal.
Sonam calls Raja’s mother
At the same time, the guide saw those five together, which helped the police to solve the knot of this missing couple. As the attacker became familiar with Raj Raghuvanshi, Sonam started walking behind them. At around 12:30 pm, Sonam called Raja’s mother Uma Raghuvanshi and told during the conversation that she was tired of walking.

According to the NDTV report, after this Uma Raghuvanshi spoke to her son Raja, which proved to be his last conversation. After this, between 1 to 1:30 pm, these people reached near the waterfall parking, where Vishal attacked the king with a knife as soon as Sonam got a hint.
The king’s body was thrown at 2.30 pm
Soon after the husband’s murder, Sonam posted on social media from her phone at 2:15 pm, “Seven births.” After this, the accused threw the king’s body into a ditch under the parking lot at 2.30 pm.
Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi were married on May 11. According to the Meghalaya Police, a plan to kill Raja Raghuvanshi soon after the marriage was prepared. This plan was not made by anyone else, but his wife Sonam made in association with Raj Kushwaha.
Meghalaya went for honeymoon
After marriage in Indore, Raja and Sonam moved to Meghalaya for honeymoon. He went missing a few hours after checking out from home stay in Nongariat village on 23 May. This place is 20 km from the place where the body of the king was found on 2 June. According to the police, Sonam gave Rs 20 lakh to the accused to carry out the crime.
