There is silence outside the house of Sonam Raghuvanshi in a narrow street of Govind Nagar Kharcha area of Indore these days, which was buzzing with the marriage between the movement of relatives a month ago.
Sonam (25) has been arrested for involvement in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi (29) during a honeymoon in Meghalaya. Sonam is alleged to have killed her husband through three mercenaries with her lover Raj Kushwaha (20) so that she could be removed from the road.
The five accused of the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case are currently in the custody of the Meghalaya Police, who are being added to this incident through questioning. Eyewitnesses said that after the arrest of Sonam, the door of her maternal house is closed most of the time after the arrest of Sonam in this case.
After the revelations of the Meghalaya Police in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, people living around Sonam’s maternal home were initially surprised. However, as the layers of this case are opening, their resentment about this incident is increasing.
Vinod Srivastava, who has known Sonam’s family for the last several years, told PTI-language on Thursday (June 12, 2025), ‘There has been a lot of injustice to King Raghuvanshi. The story of the Raghuvanshi murder case has spoiled the name of our area. I want all the culprits of this case to be punished by death so that no one can commit such a crime to carry out such a crime.
Srivastava told, ‘I have been watching Sonam since childhood. I felt like a common man, but how can anyone know what is going on in a woman’s mind? ‘ Sonam’s family is associated with the business of Sanmika sheet used in furniture.
According to local police, Raj Kushwaha, accused of plotting the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, has been 12th failure, but he was working as a accountant in the family’s business establishment for the last three years where his closeness with Sonam increased. Srivastava said that Sonam’s father Devi Singh Raghuvanshi has strengthened the financial condition of his family after a tough struggle, trying his hand in different businesses.
He told, ‘Devi Singh Raghuvanshi’s house used to be very modest earlier. A few years ago, he built a big house at the same place. Another neighbor of Sonam, Vikas Shukla said, ‘My house is in the next street of Sonam’s maternal home. I have known him since childhood. My family used to borrow money from Sonam’s father and Sonam used to come to my house to recover it. Then I felt a little pride in her behavior, but did not think that she could join a criminal incident.
According to Shukla, people living around Sonam’s maiden have a lot of resentment about the five accused of King Raghuvanshi murder. He said, ‘If these people are found guilty of killing King Raghuvanshi, then they should be punished.’
King Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam went missing in Meghalaya on 23 May during a honeymoon. The body of King Raghuvanshi was found in a deep ditch near a waterfall in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district (also known as Cherrapunji) and had deadly injuries on the head of the corpse. After this, blood -stained weapons and other items were also recovered.
Sonam surrendered in front of the police in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh late on June 8, while four accused, including Kushwaha, were arrested from different areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. King Raghuvanshi’s family is associated with the transport business. He was married to Sonam on 11 May in Indore and he left for Meghalaya for a honeymoon on 20 May. The special investigation team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police is investigating the case of murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in detail.
