In the month of July, when the school building collapsed and seven innocent children lost their lives in the village of Piplodi, Jhalawar. After the accident, the biggest difficulty was where and how to start the education of the rest of the children.
Then Mor Singh, a farmer from the village, took such a decision, which surprised everyone. He gave his house for school and started living with his family in a tarpaulin hut in the field.
School trouble after accident
In July, Piplodi’s government upper primary school was victim of accident. A classroom collapsed in which seven children died and 21 were injured. This was a great shock for the village. The children who survived were on the verge of stopping their studies. The teachers were looking for an alternative place here and there, but no one was ready to give his house or room.
In such a situation, when the teacher met Mor Singh, he agreed without thinking. Mor Singh said, “At that time I felt that the blessings of God have been received. If the children in my house study, what will be a bigger service than this. Rain or summer, I will stay in the field with my family, but the children’s education should not stop.”
Life in a hut on the farm
Mor Singh’s family belongs to eight people. All together now live in a temporary hut built on the farm. This hut made of plastic and tarpaulin has only two cottage, a stove and some utensils. The rest of the goods were kept here with relatives.
The roof drips in the rain, they burn grass to avoid insects and snakes at night. But none of the family members objected. Everyone is proud that the children of the village are now studying in their house.
House built in 2011
Mor Singh built his house with great hard work. In the year 2011, he spent two lakh rupees and built a two -room house after spending daily wages. But today the same house is open for school classes. He says that this is a difficult time, but will not always be. We will return home as soon as the new school building is built.
Administration also convinced Mor Singh
Jhalawar Collector Ajay Singh Rathore praised Mor Singh’s sacrifice and gave him the title of ‘Bhamashah’. The administration said that if Mor Singh had not helped, the children would have to send 2-3 kilometers away.
The state government has allocated 10 bighas of land for the new school building and has also approved Rs 1.8 crore. Also, Mor Singh has also been given two lakh rupees as compensation.
Children’s trust returned
After the accident, many people of the village were afraid to send their children to school. But when Mor Singh gave his house to school, the trust of the villagers returned. Not only this, 10 new children were also admitted after the accident and now a total of 75 students are studying here.
School teacher Mahesh Meena said that eight children injured in the accident are still undergoing treatment at home. Two additional teachers have been sent home to do not leave their studies.
‘Our resolve-rejuvenation of our resolve’
The work of the new school building has started and it is expected that classes will be held there from next year. After the accident, the Rajasthan government has also announced to make Piplodi a ‘Model Village’. The slogan is given
“Our resolve -Piplodi rejuvenation, from accident to development.”
Mor Singh became the hero of the village
Today, everyone in Piplodi village gives an example of Mor Singh. Despite being illiterate, he understood the real cost of education and opened his house to the children. His generosity has given a message to the whole society that humanity is the greatest strength.
