There was chaos in Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur on Monday (February 9) evening when the police control room received information that a calf had been decapitated and hanged at an intersection. The information was extremely sensitive, so Shyam Nagar police station, South District officials and additional police forces immediately reached the spot. Vigilance was also increased for some time to avoid any untoward incident in the area.
Picture changed after spot investigation
When the police reached the spot and investigated closely, it came to light that the information was completely false and misleading. There was no incident of hanging the calf’s head at any intersection or public place. Nor did any communal or religious angle of the matter come to light. The police made it clear that an attempt was made to worsen the situation through rumours.
DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj said that in the preliminary investigation it became clear that this information was given with the purpose of deliberately misleading the police. In this case, Shailesh Meena (21) resident of Ashokpura, Shyam Nagar and Indra Khoda (21) resident of Rajeev Nagar, Hasanpura have been rounded up. Both are accused of giving false information and trying to disturb peace.
An important fact came to light during the investigation. The calf of the cow owner Bunty alias Satyanarayan Sharma (46) had died a day earlier. As per the procedure laid down by the Municipal Corporation, the dead calf was sent to Hingonia Gaushala.
After the death of the calf the cow stopped giving milk. Under the advice and emotional pressure of the local people, Bunty Sharma brought a part of the head of his dead calf from the cowshed.
It was told that he filled the calf’s head with straw and tied it in front of his cow, so that the cow would start giving milk again after seeing him. This entire matter was of private place and had nothing to do with public place.
Rumors spoiled the atmosphere
Shailesh Meena and Inder Khoda, who were present at the spot, distorted the incident and called the police saying that the calf’s head had been hung at the intersection. Due to this false information, the police had to reach the spot and unnecessary tension was created in the area.
Strict warning from police
Shyam Nagar police station in-charge Dalbir Singh said that police resources have been misused due to false information. Legal aspects of the case are being investigated and action will be taken against the culprits under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code.
The police have clearly said that this matter is completely rumor based and has no connection with any religious or communal incident. Also, an appeal has been made to the common people not to spread any sensitive information without verification, otherwise strict action will be taken.
Regarding this entire matter, senior Congress leader and former cabinet minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas had also raised questions on the administration and the government. However, after the police investigation the situation has become clear and preparations are being made to take action against those spreading rumours.
