Rajasthan: Tension over construction of roof of Dargah in Jaipur, BJP-Congress MLAs face to face

There was a situation of tension in Chandpol Circle area of the capital Jaipur on Sunday (February 8) when two MLAs came face to face over the construction of the roof of the Dargah. The matter escalated when BJP MLA from Hawamahal Balmukund Acharya reached the spot with his supporters and started protesting, calling the construction illegal.

BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya says that the roof of the Dargah is being built by encroaching on the government vegetable market area. They allege that the historical wall of the fort has also been damaged by this construction. He asked questions and answers to the people working on the spot and demanded an investigation into the entire matter.

Congress MLA also reached the spot

As soon as information about the dispute was received, local Congress MLA Amin Kaggi also reached the spot. He openly defended the construction work and said that it is completely legal. There was a heated debate between the two MLAs, due to which the atmosphere became more heated. Seeing the situation worsening, senior police officers had to intervene.

Additional police personnel were deployed at the spot to maintain law and order. As a precautionary measure, the police stopped the construction work for the time being. Officials say that the situation is completely under control and no untoward incident has taken place.

Claiming validity by showing documents

People associated with the construction presented the documents related to the permission of the Municipal Corporation. He says that the work order was issued only after the approval of Rs 20 lakh from the MLA fund and all the necessary formalities have been completed. Congress MLA Amin Kagzi also placed copies of the permission and work order in front of the media.

Local people gave support

Local residents and traders working in the nearby vegetable market say that this Dargah is decades old and has been a symbol of mutual harmony in the area. According to people, due to the problem of water seepage during rains, only the roof is being constructed and not any kind of new extension.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya says that under the guise of being a public representative, construction on government land is being promoted, which is against the rules. On the other hand, Amin Kaggi alleged that efforts are being made to harm the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the area for political gains.

Now the ball is in the court of the administration. On the basis of the report of Municipal Corporation and Police, it will be decided whether the construction is as per the rules or not, and what further action will be taken.
