Unknown thieves committed a major theft in the Bank of Baroda in Kekri, Rajasthan. The thieves entered inside the bank’s locker room by breaking the roof and stole gold worth about Rs 1.25 crore. As soon as information about this sensational incident was received, there was a stir in the area. On receiving the information, Savar police station immediately reached the spot and started investigation.
According to the information, the thieves broke the roof of the bank in a very clever manner and then cut the strong iron rods with electric cutters and entered the locker room. Thieves broke one or two lockers of the bank and stole the goods kept in them. However, the main cash of the bank is said to be completely safe.
110 tola gold stolen
Deputy Superintendent of Police Harshit Sharma, after inspecting the spot, said that the exact amount of gold, silver or other valuables that was stolen from the broken locker would be known only after the arrival of the locker holders. According to the information received so far, 110 tola gold has been stolen. According to bank manager Pooja Meena, 80 tola gold of Indra Raj Bhatt was stolen. Similarly, 28 tola gold and 850 grams silver was stolen from Lokesh Pareek.
Police checking CCTV
The concerned customers have been informed by the bank management. The total loss will be revealed only on the basis of arrival of remaining customers and the information given by them. At present, Savar police is scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the bank and surrounding roads so that the suspects can be identified. It is believed that the thieves had chosen Sunday night for this incident because it was a bank holiday.
Thieves ran away leaving electric cutter on the spot
According to Police Station Officer Radheshyam Jat, the exact time of the theft is being ascertained. After committing the crime, the thieves fled away leaving their electric cutter and other tools used in breaking the roof on the spot.
Questions raised on security
Forensic team is also being called to the spot to collect evidence. After the incident, serious questions have been raised on the security arrangements of the bank. At present, Savar police is investigating the matter. After getting information about the sensational incident of theft, local MLA Shatrughan Gautam also reached the spot.
