BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla Thanked The ICC: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla on Tuesday, February 10, praised the International Cricket Council (ICC) and said that it ‘found a very good solution’ due to which Pakistan withdrew its boycott of the T20 World Cup match against India. Following the request of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the Pakistan government decided to withdraw the boycott appeal, which means that the match between India and Pakistan will take place as per schedule.

Rajiv Shukla told reporters, ‘On behalf of BCCI, I want to express my gratitude to ICC President (Jay Shah) and his officials for finding a very good solution. This decision has been taken after discussions with Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board and after listening to all the parties. He said, ‘This decision is very important for cricket. Cricket should continue and now the World Cup will be a big success. As far as ICC is concerned, this is a big achievement. Bangladesh Cricket Board has also praised ICC. He listened to all the parties and took this decision keeping in mind the interests of all. Shukla further said, ‘Ultimately cricket is most important for everyone. International cricket is important for everyone.
Pakistan government withdrew the decision of boycott
Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Aminul Islam had issued a statement in Dhaka, appealing to Pakistan to withdraw the boycott. After this it was decided that Pakistan would withdraw the boycott. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also spoke on phone to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who requested him to allow the team to play the match. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi informed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about his talks with the ICC. After this, the Pakistan government issued a statement and gave permission to its team to play this match.
ICC did not fine Bangladesh
The ICC made some concessions on the issue and decided not to impose any penalty on Bangladesh, which had to pull out of the World Cup after refusing to play in India citing security concerns. Earlier, Pakistan had said that it will not play the match against India. This was being considered as a political protest related to the exclusion of Bangladesh from the tournament. The ICC had rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift its matches from India to Sri Lanka due to security reasons. After this, Bangladesh was thrown out of the tournament and Scotland was included in its place.
