Speaking to the news agency ANI, BCCI vice -president Rajiv Shukla said, “I want to make one thing clear. We are all feeling the lack of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Rohit and Virat themselves had decided to retire. It has been the policy of the board that we never force a player to retire. It was a complete decision.”

Rajiv Shukla said on the future in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s ODI that the whole country including the board will always give them the status of great player. Rajiv Shukla also admitted that it is a good thing for India that Virat and Rohit have not yet retired from ODI cricket. At the same time, he also indicated that at the moment Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will continue to play in ODI format.
When will Rohit-Virat play for India?
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will now be seen playing only in ODI matches. Team India’s next ODI series was scheduled to be held with Bangladesh in August 2025, but the tour has now been postponed for next year. In such a situation, the next ODI series of the Indian team will be with Australia in October. Between 19-25 October, three ODIs will be played between the two teams.
