Voting for Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar took place on Monday (March 16, 2026). In the voting which took place till 4 pm, four MLAs of the Grand Alliance did not cast their votes. Senior Janata Dal United leader and minister Shravan Kumar claimed that all 202 MLAs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have cast their votes while four MLAs of the opposition Grand Alliance did not vote. He said that the unity of all the NDA MLAs is clearly visible and the alliance has entered the election contest with full strength.
He said that during the voting, all 202 MLAs of NDA have demonstrated their unity and strategic strength by casting their votes, although four MLAs of the opposition Grand Alliance remained absent during the voting. Voting time was till 4 o’clock.
Those who did not vote included Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Faizal Rahman from Dhaka and three Congress MLAs, Manohar Prasad Singh of Manihari, Surendra Kushwaha of Valmikinagar and Manoj Biswas of Forbesganj. The absence of these MLAs has raised questions about the strategy of the Grand Alliance.

Ashok Chaudhary’s attack on Tejashwi Yadav
Bihar Minister Ashok Chaudhary targeted the opposition regarding Rajya Sabha elections. He said that this is not just a fight for seats, but a fight for ideologies. He also took a jibe at Tejashwi Yadav and said that instead of blaming others, he should focus on his party and his politics. He claimed that NDA will win all five seats of Rajya Sabha.
JDU national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha told reporters, “All five NDA candidates will win. It doesn’t matter to us what the opposition parties are claiming.” Let us tell you that voting started at nine in the morning. The results will be declared by late evening on Monday (March 16, 2026).
