Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren died at the age of 62. He breathed his last on Friday (August 15) while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. Ramdas Soren was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi on August 2 for treatment. The Jharkhand government announced a one -day state mourning on the death of Education Minister Ramdas Soren on Saturday. The national flag on all buildings in Jharkhand will be half bent and no official ceremony will be held.

Now the body of Ramdas Soren has been brought to Ranchi on Saturday (16 August). Ajay Sinha, personal secretary of Ramdas Soren, said that the body of the Education Minister was brought to Bisra Munda Airport in Ranchi in the morning. His body will be kept in the assembly premises in Ranchi where ministers, MLAs and political leaders will pay tribute to him.

After this, the body will be taken to his constituency Ghatshila, where it will be kept in Mau Bhandar Maidan and JMM Camp Office. The leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was admitted to the national capital hospital from Jamshedpur after falling in the bathroom of the house on August 2.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed condolences on the death of Ramdas Soren. Hemant Soren posted on ‘X’, “Ramdas da (brother) should not have left us like this. The last salute to Dada.”

Ramdas Soren will be remembered for simplicity
Ramdas Soren will always be remembered for his simplicity, grassroots association and unwavering dedication to public service. Ramdas Soren was born on 1 January 1963 in Ghoranda village in East Singhbhum district. He was from a middle class farmer family.

Travel from Pradhan to Cabinet
Ramdas Soren started his political journey as the village head of Ghorbanda Panchayat. Hemant then became one of the most influential ministers in the cabinet led by Soren. He became the President of Jamshedpur East of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in the year 1990.

After this, he moved to Ghatshila and started preparing to contest from there in the 2005 assembly elections, but this seat went to the Congress account, which was a coalition of JMM. Then, he contested as an independent candidate, but lost. Three sons and a daughter’s father, Soren, contested the 2009 assembly election from Ghatshila and became a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly for the first time.

Ramdas Soren joined the cabinet after Champai Soren’s departure
He lost the seat to BJP’s Laxman Tudu in 2014, but he made a strong comeback in 2019 and captured the seat again. Ramdas Soren won the seat for the third time by defeating Babulal Soren of BJP, son of former Chief Minister Champai Soren.

He was included in the State Cabinet on 30 August after Champai Soren resigned as a minister and MLA. He was made the minister of the Department of School Education and Literacy in Hemant Soren government.
