Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son former MLA Abdullah Azam are currently lodged in Rampur jail in two PAN card cases. On Monday, his wife Tanzeem Fatima, son Adeeb Azam and sister reached the jail to meet Azam Khan and met him for about an hour. After coming out of jail, Tanzeem Fatima said that Azam was unwell and she was ill even before going to jail, while she could not meet her son Abdullah.
Azam Khan, who was a 9-time MLA from Rampur, has more than 100 cases registered against him. In many of which he has been granted bail. Azam Khan again went to jail along with his son Abdullah Azam on 17 November 2025, when he was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and fine by the MP-MLA Court of Rampur in two cases related to PAN card, after which he was taken into custody. For him, this was once again a return to jail after almost 2 months of freedom.
Wife, son and sister met
On Monday, wife Tanzeem Fatima reached Rampur jail along with son Adeeb Azam and Azam Khan’s sister. Here he met Azam Khan for an hour. After coming out of jail, she did not talk much to the media and said that jail is just jail. His health is bad. Son and sister also did not answer the media’s questions. Even local party leaders were not present with him. Due to which, speculations are being made that the party has distanced itself from him at the local level.
Came out of Sitapur jail on 23 September
Earlier, Azam Khan had come out on bail after being in Sitapur jail for 23 months and then after 55 days, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison in the PAN card case. After which he went to jail again. Azam’s family alleges that he is being deliberately implicated.
