The situation became tense during the Holika Dahan festival in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh when a Muslim youth was allegedly accused of prematurely burning Holika. As soon as the news of the uproar on this festival of happiness was received, the administration came into action, officials along with the regional police force reached the spot. The police officers calmed down the matter by assuring the villagers of action against the accused.
Actually, this case has come to light from Bajidpur village of Bhot police station area of Rampur district. It is alleged that a youth of Muslim religion set fire to Holika, after which the villagers created a ruckus. On receiving information about the uproar, the regional police and CO reached the spot. The officials tried to convince the villagers, however during this time the villagers also had an altercation with the police.
ASP pacified the matter by assuring action.
After this, seeing the situation worsening, the officers present on the spot immediately informed about the matter to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anurag Singh. Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh reached the village with heavy force. Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh assured the villagers that strict action would be taken against the youth. Also, the Holika will be kept again. ASP said that Holika Dahan would be done in the presence of police administration, only then the matter was calmed down.
Police detained the accused
Regarding this incident, Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh, while giving information to the media, said that the Holika Dahan controversy has come to light in village Bajidpur of Bhot police station area. There was a dispute over the accused lighting Holika before Holika Dahan. The accused has been taken into custody, a new Holika has been organized and peace is maintained in the village.
