The news of Sanju Samson’s trade has started gaining momentum again. It seems almost certain that Samson will play for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. ESPN Cricinfo report has revealed that in exchange for Sanju Samson, CSK can trade two all-rounder players in the form of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran with RR. If this trade is successful then Jadeja will be returning to RR team after 17 years.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals team officials have also talked to Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson and Sam Curran in this regard. The deal seems almost finalized, but no franchise has given any confirmation regarding the trade.
If Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings want to make this trade official, then they will have to inform the Governing Council of IPL about the three players. As per the rules of trading, once written consent is received from the players, the franchise can proceed with the final agreement process.
Samson and Jadeja have been associated with Rajasthan Royals and CSK respectively for a long time. Samson has spent 11 years in the Rajasthan team, while Jadeja has played 12 seasons for Chennai Super Kings. Samson has already made it clear that he wants to leave Rajasthan Royals team.
Jadeja has played 254 matches in his huge IPL career. He is behind only Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik in terms of playing most matches. He has taken 143 wickets for CSK, which is the highest. He was also made the captain of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 season, but after the poor start of the team in the season, he handed over the captaincy back to Dhoni.
