Chinnaswamy stadium stampede: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB )’s first IPL win was very sad on Wednesday (June 04, 2025), when 11 people were killed and 33 others were injured when a stampede occurred outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The incident took place when the fan was going to attend the celebration of raising the IPL 2025 trophy by the RCB team. On the matter, Chief Minister Siddadamayar gave complete information by holding a press conference.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “11 people died and 33 people have been injured in the stampede. It should not have been a tragedy. The government expresses deep grief over the incident. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the dead. The government will provide free treatment of the injured.” During this, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar was also present with him.
‘Will not do politics on accident’
The Chief Minister further said, “I do not want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on it. I have ordered a magistrate inquiry and have given 15 days time.
How many people are confirmed to be killed?
Officials have confirmed that the bodies of two people are in Boring Hospital and four others in Vaidehi Hospital. Six people are undergoing treatment at the ICU of Vaidehi Hospital and three have been admitted to the ICU. Those who have bodies in Boring Hospital include Divyanshi (13 years), Diya (26 years), Shravan (21 years), an unknown girl, 17 -year -old unidentified teenager, an unknown man. Vaidehi Hospital has bodies of Bhumik (20 years), Sahana (19 years), a 20 -year -old and a 35 -year -old unidentified man, while 12 injured are undergoing treatment. Chinmayi (19 years), brought to Manipal Hospital, has died while six people are undergoing treatment.
The stampede occurred when thousands of fans were hasty trying to enter the already packed stadium from different gates. The police present on the spot took the injured to an ambulance nearby Boring Hospital. Police said that there was a delay in the ambulance to reach the hospital due to congestion on the roads. In a separate event, a fan fell while climbing the gate to jump into the stadium and his leg broke.
