The line of Delhi has taken a big and important decision to empower the women of Delhi and to make them more self -sufficient. According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, women are being allowed to work in night shifts in shops and commercial establishments.

This decision will increase the participation of women in the workforce of this sector and will also promote Ease of Doing Business (ease of doing business). The Chief Minister says that strict provisions are being made for the safety of women employees, including transport arrangements during night duty, CCTV cameras, deployment of adequate security guards, etc.

‘Will help in creating business hub’

He further said that in some states of the country, women are allowed to work in night shifts. According to the Chief Minister, this decision of the government will help in making Delhi a 24×7 business hub.

LG sent proposal

Giving information about this important decision, CM Rekha Gupta said that this proposal is being sent to him soon for the approval of Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena. This subject has been discussed before the Lieutenant Governor. He informed that exemption is being given in Delhi Shop and Establishment Act-1954 to implement this decision.

According to sections 14, 15 and 16 of this Act, women (in summer season) are not allowed to work from 9 am to 7 am and (in winter season) from 8 am to 8 am. But now it has been changed.

The Chief Minister further informed that women’s welfare is at the top of our agenda. We are working effective to ensure the economic upliftment of working women through various schemes.

Rules are already applicable in these states

According to CM Rekha Gupta, this discount is already going on in Haryana, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu etc. Now it is also being implemented in Delhi, the capital of the country, because the Delhi government considers women empowerment and self -reliance as a central priority of its policy.

It is necessary to take in writing before night shift

He said that strict provisions (conditions) are being implemented for women in shops/commercial establishments to work in the exemption to work in night shift (24×7). Before keeping women in the night shift, it will be necessary to get their written consent, CCTV cameras, security guards and safe transportation will be mandatory at the workplace.

Committee will be formed

Apart from this, the company will have to form an internal grievance committee under the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act (POSH Act). Also, the facility of rest room, toilet, locker etc. will also have to be provided for women.

Payment of overtime also included

The rule has also been made that women should be paid salaries from the bank/ECS. The conditions also include all legal benefits like ESI, bonus, provident fund etc., payment of weekly leave and overtime.
