Shakti Kapoor’s real name is Sunil Sikanderlal Kapoor, born in a Punjabi family in Delhi on 3 September 1952. She studied at Kirorimal College, University of Delhi and learned the nuances of acting from Pune’s Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). His start in Bollywood after turning from Delhi to Mumbai was not easy. He made his debut in Bollywood in 1975 with Ranjit Khanal.
Name was changed at the behest of Sunil Dutt

- He was making his son Sanjay Dutt’s debut film ‘Rocky’ (1981) at that time. In this film, he was offered Villain’s role.

- Therefore, Dutt suggested him to change his screen name. In this way, the name ‘Shakti Kapoor’ was born.

The decade of 1980 to 1990 was a moment -changing moment for Shakti Kapoor. After the success of ‘Rocky’, Shakti Kapoor made a strong identity in Villain and Comedy Rolls in the 1980s and 1990s. During this, he played memorable roles in more than 100 films in collaboration with Asrani and Kader Khan. He worked in films like ‘Kurbani’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Hero No.1’, ‘Ankhi Se Goli Mare’ and ‘Sajan Chale Sasural’.

Apart from the film Zindagi, Shakti Kapoor married Shivangi Kolhapuri (elder sister of actress Padmini Kolhapuri) and has two children Siddhant Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Shakti has also appeared in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ in 2011, where he revealed about alcohol addiction.
