What did the Iranian official say on relations with India?
Salar Velaytamdar, a member of Iran’s National Security Commission, said in a TV interview, ‘The condition of the world is not good and the actions of the American President are not dignified. They have created turmoil in every country and those countries are facing instability. Great people of our friendly country India are also included in this. There is a deep similarity in language, culture and tradition between India and Iran. Nothing can harm the strong relations between India and Iran. The agreement for India’s investment in Chabahar Port is to safeguard mutual relations. India’s recent statements are absolutely correct. The Indian side understands that enemy actions will have no impact on this partnership. In our opinion nothing has changed in this.

Iran reiterated that relations with India are strong and unbreakable. Chabahar Port is a big part of these relationships. Iranian officials believe that American pressure or sanctions will not make any difference to these relations.

Why is Chabahar Port special for India?

Chabahar Port is located in the south-east of Iran. India has invested here so that access to Afghanistan and Central Asia can be easier. This is an alternative route for India without passing through Pakistan. India and Iran had signed a 10-year agreement in 2024. But problems arose due to American sanctions.

Actually, America has increased its strictness on Iran. India had earlier got exemption, but now there is a conditional waiver till 26 April 2026. What will happen after this is under discussion. India is talking to America so that the project can continue. India says that exiting the Chabahar project is not a wise path.

Trump threatened to destroy Iran

Iranian official accused US President Donald Trump of spreading instability in the world. Iran described the recent protests as a foreign conspiracy and said that the situation is under control. Tehran has said that if anyone extends a hand, it will be cut off. Trump has said in response that if he is targeted, Iran will be wiped off the face of the earth.
