During the talks with India Today, Harbhajan Singh said that it would not be wrong to consider giving separate coaches to India’s white ball and red ball team, because the teams are different in these formats. Bhajji believes that workloads can be reduced slightly from different coaches in different formats.
Harbhajan Singh said, “I think different coaches can be appointed, there is nothing wrong in this. You have different teams for different formats. If we can do so, this will be the right decision. It will reduce the workload for everyone including coaches.”
India’s legendary spinner believes that a coach needs time to prepare before the series, even if the match is being played in any format. Let us know that India has never implemented ‘Spilate Coaching’, but in the recent past, VVS Laxman has been seen taking charge of coaching. This statement of Harbhajan is giving such a hint that if it is implemented, Gambhir will have to withdraw from the post of coach from at least one format.
If we look at the coaching records of Gautam Gambhir so far, India has won one of the 2 bilateral ODI series so far and has won the title of ICC Champions Trophy. India has won all its T20 series so far in Gambhir’s coaching, but after Gambhir became the coach, India has only won a Test series against Bangladesh.
