This year’s Republic Day is going to be special and historic for India in many ways. On one hand, European Union President Ursula von der Leyen will be the chief guest in India’s Republic Day parade, while on the other hand, some contingents of the Indian Army will be a part of the parade for the first time or after a long gap, which will present the new form of the country’s military strength and strategic capability in front of the world. The Republic Day Parade is not just a tradition, but a glimpse of India’s power, technology, tradition and future. This time this glimpse is going to be even more special.
Be it the double hump camels that deliver supplies and fuel in difficult weather conditions on the Line of Actual Control on the India-China border or the birds of prey that shoot down enemy drones in the blink of an eye, all of them will be seen in the Republic Day Parade for the first time this time. These silent warriors will step on the Rajpath as contingents of the Remounted Veterinary Corps of the Indian Army. This contingent includes two double hump camels, which have been named Nubra and Galwan. Along with them, 22 Army dogs, four Raptor birds and four Zanskar ponies will also be part of the parade. Till now only army dogs were seen in the parade, but this time the full strength of the silent warriors will be visible.
Drone Killer Raptor Birds: Karan and Arjun
This time, the most talked about silent warriors in the parade are Raptor Birds Karan and Arjun. These birds can destroy enemy spy drones in a very short time and when needed, they also play an important role in monitoring enemy targets. This combination of natural ability with technology has given the Indian Army a distinct edge in modern warfare.
Global debut of Bhairav Battalion
‘Invisible and indomitable’ are not just words, but the identity of Bhairav Battalion, the new special unit of the Indian Army. Inspired by the Bhairava form of Lord Shiva and having Nag Vasuki insignia, this unit is considered very fast and effective in counter terrorism and covert operations. Bhairav Battalion will present its formal and global introduction to the world for the first time from the stage of the Republic Day Parade. Its presence will give the message that India is now fully capable not only of defense but also of strategic offensive capability.
A living story of bravery and tradition: Rajput Regiment
‘Ho Sarvatra Vijay’ is not just a slogan, but a recognition of the courage, sacrifice and pride of the Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army. This contingent participating in the Republic Day Parade will, through its songs and march, narrate the same story of the battlefield, which the Rajput Regiment has lived for decades. This glimpse of the soldiers guarding the border, smiling even in the extreme cold, will make the parade emotional and inspiring.
Artillery unit will return after 8 years, God of War
The artillery unit of the Indian Army, known as the ‘God of War’ and ‘King of Battle’, will once again be a part of the Republic Day parade after a long gap of eight years. This unit, which gave a befitting reply to the enemy with M-46 guns in the 1965 and 1971 wars, Bofors in the Kargil war and M-777 howitzers and BrahMos missiles in recent operations, is a symbol of India’s fire power.
Message to the world from the parade
This time the Republic Day parade will not be just a military display, but will give the message that India is moving forward together in terms of technology, tradition and strategic thinking.
