Atm interchange fee: Withdrawing money from ATM can be overwhelming on your pocket from May 1, 2025. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the increase in ATM interchange fees. Due to this, withdrawing cash or check for customers using ATMs outside the home bank network will now become a little expensive.
ATM transaction charge will increase so much from May 1
- On withdrawing cash, a fee of up to Rs 17-19 per transaction will have to be paid.
- The charge for checking the balance is Rs 6-7 per transaction.
So much free transaction limit
These charges will be charged from you only when you cross the limit of free transaction in the month. Apart from home bank in metro cities, the limit of free transactions from the ATM of the bank is five, while the free transaction limit in non -metro cities is three. The proposal of the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has been given by the Reserve Bank. Actually, the white label ATM operator was talking about increasing the fees. He argued that the old fees are not enough in view of the rising operating costs.
What is white label ATM?
White label ATM Payment and Settlement System Act 2007 was imposed on behalf of the Reserve Bank. It has been started with the aim of increasing the reach of ATMs in many remote parts and small towns of the country. There is no board of any bank in it. In this, along with withdrawing money from debit/credit card, facilities like bill payment, mini statement, check book request, cash deposit are also available.
Small banks will affect
The pressure to increase ATM interchange fees will be on small banks as their ATMs are usually less due to limited infrastructure. They depend more on the ATM networks of other banks. Explain that the interchange fee is the amount that one bank gives to another bank when the customer of its bank uses the ATM of another bank.
