Riteish deshmukh: A 26-year-old dancer, who was part of the choreography team of actor-director Ritesh Deshmukh’s film ‘Raja Shivaji’, died of drowning in the Krishna river after finishing shooting a song. The police gave this information on Thursday.

Discrimination during film shooting

An officer said that the deceased has been identified as Saurabh Sharma, whose body was recovered on Thursday morning. He said that Saurabh was missing for two days. Officeer said that the incident took place on Tuesday evening in Sangam Mahuli village located at the confluence of Krishna and Vanna rivers in the village when the film ‘Raja Shivaji’ was being shot.

The officer said that after finishing the shooting of the song, Saurabh went to wash his hand in the Krishna river. After washing his hand, he got down in deep water to swim but was swept away in the sharp stream. Police and district administration were informed about the missing dancer, after which the disaster response and rescue teams including the local people reached the spot and started a search operation.

Search operation lasted for two days

The official said that due to darkness, a search and rescue operation was stopped on Tuesday night and it was resumed on Wednesday morning, which lasted throughout the day but the dancer could not be detected. He said that Saurabh’s body finally recovered from the river at around 7.30 am on Thursday. The official said that the Satara police have been engaged in investigation by registering a case of accidentally death.

Shooting of the film ‘Raja Shivaji’

Ritesh Deshmukh is playing Marathi and Hindi film ‘Raja Shivaji’ based on the life of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, as well as playing the lead role in the film.
