Revolt has started in Bihar BJP regarding UGC Bill 2026. Party MLA Anil Singh from Hisua assembly of Nawada district has come forward openly. This is the first time in Bihar that an MLA from the ruling party, while still in power, has directly attacked the decisions of his party leaders and the central government. The question is how will Bihar BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi handle this?

While talking to ABP News on Wednesday (January 28, 2026), MLA Anil Singh clearly said that this UGC bill discriminates against the children of general category and upper caste. He alleged that there is a clear provision for complaint for SC/ST/OBC in the rules, but there is no protection or avenue of appeal for the general category. The old provision of taking action on wrong complaints was removed, due to which the risk of blackmailing has increased.

‘What kind of justice is this if we are discriminated against?’

The BJP MLA said that anger is natural, the government should immediately take cognizance and make amendments. He clearly said that no one should be discriminated against, but if we are discriminated against, what kind of justice is this? The BJP MLA said that the upper caste community is a strong vote bank of the BJP, but the Education Minister and the BJP members in the committee did not show seriousness.

warning of protest on the streets

In this whole matter, Anil Singh has warned that if necessary, he will take to the streets to protest and will not step back. He said that if a high-level committee is formed and amendments are not made to include all sections, it would be like sowing the seeds of division in the name of caste.

Now this issue has become a big challenge for BJP, because upper caste community is the core vote bank of the party. The question is whether this rebellion will create further divisions in BJP or will the government make amendments? Time will tell. This statement has come at a time when students and organizations of the upper caste community across the country are protesting against the UGC rules.
