Rising Star Asia Cup 2025: Team India let the victory slip from their hands in the semi-finals of the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025. This exciting match played against Bangladesh reached the Super Over, but it was there that India’s biggest mistake came to light. The Indian team was out without scoring any runs in the Super Over. Bangladesh won the match with the help of a wide ball. After the defeat, questions started being raised on the decisions of the Indian team management, especially on not giving Vaibhav Suryavanshi a chance to bat in the Super Over.
What was the biggest mistake in the Super Over?
Chasing 194 runs, India made a brilliant comeback and took the match into the super over. During this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi kept India’s hopes alive by playing an explosive inning of 38 runs in 15 balls. Fans were hopeful that Vaibhav would be the first choice in the Super Over. Although this did not happen, captain Jitesh Sharma, Ramdeep Singh and Ashutosh Sharma were sent to bat.
The result was that India could not even open its account. Ripon Mandal dismissed Jitesh and Ashutosh on two consecutive balls.
Captain Jitesh Sharma told the reason
After the match was over, captain Jitesh Sharma clarified the decision and said, “Vaibhav and Priyansh are powerplay specialists. Hitting in the death overs suits me, Ashutosh and Ramdeep more. So it was a team decision.” However, this statement of Jitesh did not reduce the anger of the fans.

On behalf of Bangladesh, Ripon Mandal bowled brilliantly in the super over, while on behalf of India, Suyyash Sharma bowled a wide ball and put the match in Bangladesh’s bag. The Bangladesh batsman was out on the very first ball, but India appeared to be under so much pressure while batting that even runs could not be scored.
