However, due to changing lifestyle it is suffering a lot. One of these is liver cirrhosis. When the liver gets continuously damaged, it gradually starts losing its healthy cells and scar tissue forms in their place. Often people take it lightly, but later it causes a lot of problems. Let us tell you how dangerous liver cirrhosis is and at what stage it becomes cancer.

How dangerous is liver cirrhosis?

The question arises that how dangerous is the liver cirrhosis which we take lightly. So let us tell you that liver cirrhosis is a chronic disease, that is, it lasts for a long time and increases slowly. When this disease occurs initially, 20 to 30 percent of the liver gets damaged. Till this time we do not see any problem, but as this problem increases, all its symptoms start appearing. These include fatigue and weakness, loss of appetite, swelling in the stomach, frequent infections and vomiting or bleeding. If it is not treated on time, it becomes fatal. Many researches and reports of the American Liver Foundation show that cirrhosis is present in about 80 to 90 percent of liver cancer patients.

When does it become dangerous?

Liver cirrhosis is divided into four stages, and the risk of cancer is different at each stage. The first stage in this is compensated cirrhosis. The second is compensated cirrhosis with varicose veins, in which the pressure on the veins increases and the risk of cancer increases. The third stage is de-compensated cirrhosis, in which the liver starts having difficulty functioning. After this comes the fourth stage, end-stage cirrhosis, in which the liver stops functioning completely and it becomes difficult for the patient to survive. Along with this, the possibility of cancer increases significantly in this stage. According to medical research, every year 1 to 8 percent of cirrhosis patients may develop liver cancer. However, if cirrhosis is caused by hepatitis B or C, the risk is greater.
