Israel is going to deploy a new laser defense system, iron beam, soon to strengthen its safety. This system will be able to destroy dangers such as rockets, drones and mortars at low cost. This system will focus on small rockets, drones and mortars, which are often fired in herd and it is expensive to stop with traditional missile systems.
How does the iron beam works?
Iron beam fiber is based on laser technology. As soon as a danger is revealed, it tracks it and focuses several laser rays at one point. This can neutralize the target within four seconds. Its maximum effective limit is about 10 kilometers. If there is adequate power supply, it can continue firing continuously, which keeps security during long attacks.

The cost on the iron beam is much lower than the traditional missile interceptor. While the missile interceptor costs from $ 50,000 to $ 150,000, the cost of the iron beam shot is only about $ 2,000. This is the reason why it is considered to be a game also in the security sector.
History and testing of the system
The Iron Beam was first introduced in Singapore Airsho in February 2014. It was designed to deal with short distance hazards. The Israeli Defense Ministry has confirmed its spectacular performance during testing and said it has successfully destroyed all dangers including rockets and mortars.
