Ravichandran Ashwin On Rohit-Kohli Retirement: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are available for Team India only in ODI format. Both of them retired from T20 International after the 2024 T20 World Cup. Then in May, both of them suddenly said goodbye to Test cricket. The Test retirement of both of them was really shocking for the fans. Now former Indian spinner R Ashwin supported Gautam Gambhir and said that if the time of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is over, then what is wrong in it.

In a report published in Navbharat Times, Ashwin was quoted as saying that Gautam Gambhir may have a vision as a coach. He has the right to take decisions in favor of the team. Apart from this, Ashwin said that if Gambhir felt that the time of legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is over, then what is wrong in it.

What did Ashwin say on his retirement?

Talking about his retirement, Ashwin said, “If anyone should have been angry with Gautam Gambhir, it is me because my time was over as soon as he became the coach. But we have to keep our ego aside and think. The job of a coach is to secure the future of the team. It is possible that in his view I may not have any future and that is completely fine.”

Ashwin said, “My biggest strength is taking decisions at the right time. After the Perth Test, when I was out of the playing 11, I knew that my time is over. I am not one of those players who keeps hovering around the team with the hope of making a comeback. I have achieved a lot in my career and now it was right to leave the way for new people.”
