Passion for action films came after seeing father

Rohit Shetty’s father M.B. Shetty was a famous stuntman and action choreographer of the 1970s and 80s. In his childhood, Rohit saw his father working despite injuries and bloodshed and from there he developed a passion for action films. However, at the age of 7-8, Rohit lost his father in 1982, after which the financial condition of the family deteriorated. But his mother Ratna Shetty struggled alone and inspired Rohit to enter the film industry.

Film career started in 1991

At the age of 17, Rohit started his career in 1991 with the film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ and became an assistant director with director Kuku Kohli. In the initial days, he did many small jobs, like ironing sarees of actresses, working as a spot boy and becoming a stunt double. After this, Rohit directed his first film ‘Zameen’ in 2003, which was not successful. But ‘Golmaal’ released in 2006 changed his luck and he became famous in comedy films. Also in 2011, ‘Singham’ made him the king of action.

Also work in reality shows

After this, he created a stir at the box office with films like ‘Singham Returns’, ‘Simmba’, ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Suryavanshi’. Rohit was not limited to just films, apart from this he also hosted the reality show ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and became a judge in ‘Comedy Circus’.
