M-Cap of 10 valued firms: The impact of the huge turmoil in the stock market last week was seen on nine of the top 10 most valuable companies of the Sensex. The total market valuation of these companies has declined by Rs 2.51 lakh crore. Of these, Reliance Industries (RIL) suffered the most loss.
Last week, BSE benchmark Sensex recorded a decline of 2,032.65 points or 2.43 percent. Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking, said, “The market witnessed sharp selling during the week, with bears in complete control. Weak global cues, continued FII outflows, weakening rupee and weak corporate earnings remained under pressure throughout the week.
RIL suffered the most loss
The total market valuation of nine top-10 most valued companies including Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel decreased by Rs 2,51,711.6 crore. The market valuation of Reliance Industries fell by Rs 96,960.17 crore to Rs 18,75,533.04 crore. The valuation of ICICI Bank decreased by Rs 48,644.99 crore to Rs 9,60,825.29 crore. HDFC Bank’s valuation fell by Rs 22,923.02 crore to Rs 14,09,611.89 crore and Bharti Airtel’s valuation fell by Rs 17,533.97 crore to Rs 11,32,010.46 crore.
Mcap of these companies also fell

The market capitalization (Mcap) of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) declined by Rs 16,588.93 crore to Rs 11,43,623.19 crore and the market capitalization of Larsen & Toubro declined by Rs 15,248.32 crore to Rs 5,15,161.91 crore. The market valuation of Bajaj Finance declined by Rs 14,093.93 crore to Rs 5,77,353.23 crore and the mcap of State Bank of India declined by Rs 11,907.5 crore to Rs 9,50,199.77 crore. The market valuation of Infosys fell by Rs 7,810.77 crore to Rs 6,94,078.82 crore.
This company alone benefited
During this period Hindustan Unilever benefited. Its market cap increased by Rs 12,311.86 crore to Rs 5,66,733.16 crore.
Even after such losses, Reliance Industries is at the top in the list of most valuable firms. After this comes HDFC Bank, TCS, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever and Larsen & Toubro.
