Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones on Thursday (August 28, 2025), killing a total of 15 people, including 4 children in Ukraine. Reacting to this, President Volodimir Jailonsky said that this is Russia’s reply amid diplomatic efforts to end the war.
The attack has damaged the buildings of seven districts including the headquarters of the European Union Mission and the British Council. Ukraine’s army said that air defense systems have killed 563 out of about 600 drones offered by Russia across the country and 26 out of 31 missiles.
38 citizens injured in an hour -long attack
According to the Reuters report, the rescue team reached the attack site, where a building was converted into debris. During the excavation of the debris, 2 bodies were found. Officials said that at least 38 citizens of Ukraine were injured in this attack from Russia for hours.
The Ukrainian army said that Russia attacked a total of 13 places. At the same time, national grid operator Ukranego said that energy facilities have suffered a lot. Regarding Russia’s attack, Ukrainian President Jailonsky posted on ‘X’ and wrote, ‘Russia chooses ballistic missiles instead of sitting on the table of conversation. He wants to continue murder instead of ending the war.
Russian Ministry of Defense reacted
At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the army had attacked military industrial bases and airports. Russia has always been denying allegations of targeting citizens, but in recent times, dozens of people have died during the attack in densely populated areas.
During the attack, smoke clouds appeared in the night and the sounds of the explosion came. Mayor Vitali Clitsko has described it as one of the biggest attacks on the city in recent months. He said that even after a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, it did not show any special result.
British PM condemns Russian attack
European Council President Antonio Costa wrote on social media ‘X’, ‘I am shocked from another night of the deadly Russian missile attacks on Ukraine. My condolences are with Ukraine’s afflicted citizens and employees there, whose building was damaged in Russian attacks. The European Union will not be afraid of it.
British Prime Minister Kir Starmar also condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine and wrote, ‘My condolences are with all the people of Keev affected by Russian attacks. The British Council building has been damaged in the attack. Putin is killing children and citizens and is turning water on the expectations of peace.
