Russia To Ban Gasoline Export: Amidst the war between Iran-Israel and America, tension in the Middle East and global uncertainties, Russia has taken a big decision. Russia has announced a ban on the export of gasoline (petrol) from April 1, 2026. It is expected to remain effective till July 31, 2026.
The Russian government on Friday announced a ban on the export of gasoline from April 1. Its purpose is to give priority to domestic supplies and stabilize fuel prices amid the turmoil in the global market due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Russia wants that there should be no shortage of fuel in its country and the prices should remain stable.
The price of petrol and diesel should not go above the level
This announcement was made after a meeting chaired by Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, in which the situation in the domestic petroleum products market was reviewed. According to a statement issued by the Government of the Russian Federation, Novak emphasized that due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the prices of oil and petroleum products are fluctuating significantly around the world, although the demand for Russian energy abroad is still strong. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the goal set by Russian President Vladimir Putin to prevent domestic fuel prices from rising above the estimated level.
impact on india
There is no need for India to panic due to this decision of Russia because India mainly imports crude oil from Russia. There is no restriction on this. According to reports, Indian refineries have already completed deals for about 60 million barrels of crude oil from Russia for April delivery. As far as gasoline is concerned, India is not dependent on Russia for this. India has its own big refining hub. After meeting its domestic needs, India also exports refined fuel.
However, a matter of concern here is that even though India does not buy petrol directly from Russia, oil prices will increase again due to reduced supply of gasoline at the international level. This may increase costs for Indian refineries, which may impact fuel prices in the country.
