Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Moscow tested the underwater drone ‘Poseidon’ in the Arctic Ocean on 28 October 2025. Calling it a big achievement, Patin said that this weapon is equipped with a nuclear unit.
Vladimir Putin said that there is no other such weapon in the world, whose power is much more than Russia’s largest ICBM Sarmat. In such a situation, the big question is that how different is this weapon of Russia from the nuclear weapons of India and America?
How powerful is Russia’s Poseidon?
Poseidon is a state-of-the-art weapon, which is equipped with nuclear energy. It can be launched from a submarine underwater. Its biggest feature is that there is no need to add fuel again and again, because a nuclear fuel unit has been installed in it. According to the report of Russia’s government news agency TASS, it can move in water deeper than 1 kilometer.
Poseidon’s Speed, Range and Strength
Poseidon weighs 100 tonnes, length is 20 meters and speed is 100 knots. It is so fast that no normal navy will be able to catch it. It has the ability to become invisible under water at a glance. A nuclear warhead of up to two megatons can be installed in it. The Russian Army has claimed that Poseidon can destroy 6 big cities like London in a few minutes. Talking about its range, it can destroy enemies at a distance of more than 14,000 kilometers.
It carries a 2 megaton warhead, 100 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb. It can be launched from the Arctic Sea and reach the Pacific Ocean. 80 percent of the world’s coastal cities fall within its range. Its explosion will create such strong radioactive waves in the sea that the coastal city will be submerged in a tsunami.
How dangerous are the weapons of India and America?
India currently has Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Agni-5, which has a range of about 6000 kilometers. Whereas America has the maximum missile with a range of 13,000 kilometers. These missiles of these two countries are capable of attacking any other continent.
