S Jaishankar reached Moscow for SCO summit, also met Putin; Know which issues were discussed


Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday (November 18, 2025) and informed him about the preparations for the upcoming annual India-Russia summit. According to the government news agency ‘TASS’, Putin shook hands with Jaishankar and welcomed him at the representative office of the Senate Palace in the Kremlin.

What did S Jaishankar say on meeting Putin?
Jaishankar said on social media, ‘I am extremely honored to meet Russian President Putin in Moscow today. Greeted him on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Foreign Minister said, ‘Informed him about the preparations for the upcoming annual India-Russia summit. Regional and global developments were also discussed. I greatly value his vision and guidance to deepen our relations.

When is Putin going to come to India?
In a video released by the Kremlin, Putin was seen welcoming Jaishankar, accompanied by Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar and Joint Secretary Mayank Singh. This meeting took place before Putin’s proposed visit to India at the end of the year. The Russian President is expected to visit India around December 5.

Detailed conversation with Russian counterpart
Jaishankar had detailed talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Monday. Earlier, Jaishankar met President Putin along with other heads of delegation of ‘SCO’ member countries. The meeting was attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, Belarus Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, Kazakhstan’s Olyas Bektenov, Kyrgyzstan’s Edilbek Kasimliyev, Tajikistan’s Kokhir Rasulzoda and Uzbekistan’s Abdullah Aripov, along with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermakbayev.

Meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia
Jaishankar also met Prime Minister of Mongolia Gombojavin Zandanshatar and Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Sani on the sidelines of the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization). He thanked Russian Prime Minister Mishustin for hosting the SCO Heads of Government meeting and praised his hospitality.
