A case of suicide of an undertrial prisoner has come to light in Saharsa, Bihar on Sunday (28 December). A 25-year-old prisoner committed suicide by slitting his throat in Mandal Jail Saharsa. There was chaos in the family as soon as the news of death was heard. The deceased prisoner has been identified as Sunil Kumar, who is said to be a resident of Bara Lalganj of Bihara police station area.

The deceased prisoner was lodged in Mandal Jail Saharsa since March 11, 2024 in a POCSO Act case. Whose case number is 46/24. The jail administration informed the family about the incident at 2 pm on Sunday. As soon as the information was received, Sadar Police Station Chief Subodh Kumar and FSL team reached Sadar Hospital and started investigation.

The deceased’s brother Pintu Kumar reached Sadar Hospital and accused him of murder. Regarding the incident, Pintu Kumar, brother of the deceased prisoner, said, “My brother was implicated in a rape case and was in jail. On Sunday, the jail administration informed that your brother’s condition is serious. My brother has been murdered inside the jail by slitting his throat.

Meanwhile, Jail Superintendent Niranjan Pandit told during a telephonic conversation that the prisoner has committed suicide. Whose CCTV footage is also there. He said, “Investigation is being done.” Only after this will we be able to tell how he committed suicide.

Big negligence of jail administration!

Now the question arises that how a prisoner committed suicide by slitting his throat inside Mandal Jail.
