The political uproar over Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Mahmood Madani’s statement on Jihad does not seem to be stopping. On Monday, BJP’s fire brand leader Sangeet Som gave a sharp reaction in Meerut. Sangeet Som said that those who support Jihad will be beaten by Sanatani people and will be sent to Pakistan. Sangeet Som did not stop here, he appealed to close madrassas in the country and said that only terrorists emerge from madrassas.
Sangeet Som further said that Maulana Mahmood Madani was called a sick Maulana of a sick community, and said that only terrorists come out of the university of which he is the Maulana.
Sangeet Som’s statement
Sangeet Som was talking to journalists in Meerut, he gave his reaction about Maulana Madani. Sangeet Som said that Jihad is just terrorism. Be it spit jihad, love jihad or vote jihad. He said that only 5-5 votes of each person is called Jihad. Along with this, on the recent Delhi bomb blast it was said that terrorists come out only from madrassas, hence all madrassas should be closed.
Madani had given statement in Bhopal
In fact, in the annual conference of Jamiat, Maulana Mahmood Madani had raised questions on the silence of the Supreme Court and the role of constitutional institutions in some recent incidents and said that Jihad will continue against oppression. This statement has now gained momentum. Along with BJP, many Hindu organizations also called it an inflammatory statement. Bihar Governor Arim Mohammad Khan had also termed this statement as wrong and raised questions on the definition of Jihad.
There has been no statement from any Maulana or leader of the opposition party on Sangeet Som’s statement. But leaders of BJP and Hindu organizations are expressing their displeasure over Madani’s statement.
